Josie Ludwig, Director of Finance and Operations at Resimax Group, is an accomplished leader with extensive management, accounting and operational expertise. As a driving force in Resimax Group’s corporate services team, she plays a crucial role in maximising the company’s efficiencies and financial strength.
Josie recently shared insights with us about the responsibilities of her role, her approach to growth strategy, risk mitigation and leadership, and how her close consulting relationship with Founder and CEO, Ozzie Kheir, has changed the trajectory of the company.
“I first met Ozzie back in 2002 when we crossed paths both working for a property developer in Melbourne. I’ve since worked with him through all of his ventures whether as a consultant or eventually as an employee,” said Josie.
With extensive knowledge of all areas of business operations, Josie has a thorough understanding of Resimax Group’s services, performance and financial position.
“We ensure financial stability and drive future growth of the company by implementing a variety of forecasting tools to allow us to consider all business outcomes from best to worst-case.
“We then use this data to discuss potential investments, directions, and strategies to put us in the best position to capitalise on opportunities as they arise.”
Another key facet of Josie’s role is working with investors to secure funding to grow Resimax Group’s property development portfolio.
“It’s my job to demonstrate our robust capability and strategy to both current and potential investors, ensuring they are confident and assured in the strength of the company. To do this, I find it most effective to share the numbers and statistics as part of a wider story about what will happen and why. Storytelling is paramount in putting our best foot forward.”
Josie discovered her aptitude for finance, systems and operational excellence coincidentally, working her way up through various business and accounting roles. She thrived in helping multiple companies gear up for public listing, setting the standard for their operational governance. Josie also credits working with some excellent mentors and her early experiences with information technology.
“With my dad working in IT, I was using a computer at home before most people even knew what they were. So, it’s been a natural combination for me to be involved in both IT and finance. As a result, a large focus in many of my roles has been on process implementation and improvement”.
Josie naturally progressed to setting up her own accounting firm Solpoint in 2010, to provide small to medium-sized businesses with large public company-level accounting services. This then led to a broader consultative role, where she supported clients to safely expand and achieve their desired company growth and results. Solpoint quickly grew to become one of Australia’s top five per cent of firms in its category.
“Resimax Group was one of Solpoint’s largest clients, which led to me forming a close consulting relationship with Ozzie. He was growing the company so fast and continuously adding new arms to the business, so I was spending most of my time with him.
“Ultimately, it got to the point where it made the most sense for me to join Resimax Group in a full-time management capacity.”
The close working relationship between Josie and Ozzie continues to this day, as the two work strategically with the wider team to secure a robust pipeline of projects and solidify Resimax Group’s strong market position.
“We have worked tirelessly to acquire future projects that fulfil Resimax Group’s commitment to delivering quality residential communities in Melbourne’s growth corridors.
“It makes me immensely proud that Resimax Group is now able to have secured consistent work for the next fifty years. This has been critical in maintaining our enduring connections with suppliers, investors, and customers as we can confidently provide them with consistency and stability,” concluded Josie.
